Which is the Teeth Whitener for You? | Dental Care
Posted in Lips Care on November 30th, 2009 by Amanda – Be the first to commentIt’s easy to ask what teeth whitener is safest and most effective nowadays what with all the brands of whitening toothpastes and home teeth whitening kits available in supermarket shelves. There are tons of teeth whitening products which promise different things. Fortunately, it is just as easy to find out.
Almost all teeth whitening products contain hydrogen peroxide as their whitening agent. The substance is not harmful in any way as long as used per directions. One side effect though is a temporary increase in heat or cold sensitivity, but this is true for all teeth whitening systems, whether used at home or in the dental clinic; this can be experienced, as a matter of fact, even with just teeth cleaning, so this is not really something to be worried about. What you should consider is the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the whitening system. Some professional whitening procedures done by dentists in the clinic result to pain in the teeth that could be felt for up to several days. You should ask your dentist for gentler options, or look for retail daily teeth whitening products you can use to achieve the desired results. Naturally, however, it will take a longer time to reach your goal as these products contain a lower hydrogen peroxide concentration.
So, the teeth whitener that’s most effective for you? It’s what you know you will be comfortable using, with a little consideration for affordability (as in-office professional procedures will obviously be more expensive) and whether you’re alright with slower effects in exchange for less sensitivity, or otherwise.
